Burger King Repeat Offender: First It's Baby Got Back, Now It's Deep Throat!

If Burger King keeps up with this foolishness I may have to become a vegetarian. Just kidding! That's so not gonna happen. I can make a pledge to never set foot inside one of its stores though. Remember the cross-branding with rap artist Sir-Mix-A-Lot and Nickelodeon where these geniuses came up Sponge-Bob Got Back and used an offensive rap song to sell a kids meal? A kid's meal!!! 

Now they're going after women and they're promising you'll be left oh so satisfied. Aside from the fact this sandwich looks to be loaded with cholesterol and fat with an entire day's worth of calories, it's also not even remotely subtle in sexual innuendo.

Burger King is stumbling in its market share so I'm certain they are welcoming the controversy as long as it means their name is on someone else's lips. In other words, their brand is crappy so the best offensive is being offensive. So I say to Burger King: your desperation is showing baby and nobody wants to be with a needy person. Second, we're just not that into you...or your messiness.

California's about to go Third-World! 

Why you may be asking?

Well some of us haven't received our unemployment checks for weeks. Others have actually had them BOUNCE. Yup, I don't think anyone would have anticipated a check from the Federali with no legal tender but it has happened. Despite the funds having been released by them it would seem California may be holding on to that money because the State is BROKE-BROKEDY-BROKE! Since this is his last hurrah and HIS MONEY IS SAFE he thinks he can tell all of the non-wealthy, working-class and poor Californians to suck it. 

I guess he's pissed about that little recall thing mounting...

Here's an excerpt from the LA Times that ought to get your blood boiling:

With deficit forecasts growing darker by the day, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is considering a plan to slash California's safety net for the poor by eliminating the state's main welfare program, health insurance for low-income families and cash grants to college students. Advocates for the poor said elimination of those health and welfare programs would come at a steep price. Tens of thousands of families and children would be stripped of temporary financial help and health assistance, and the state would lose a huge pool of federal money that pays the majority of the program's costs.

Anthony Wright, executive director of Health Access California, said federal dollars cover up to two-thirds the cost of the Healthy Families program, which is for the working poor. The federal government pays about 58% of the cost of CalWorks.

"It's beyond draconian," Wright said. "It's insane. Not just for dropping 1 million children from healthcare, but also for losing substantial federal funding."

Okay, we get it Arnie. Nobody bought the Ballot Measure Sandwich you were offering. So now you're playing hard-ball...but don't count everyone out just yet. The blowback will be severe. Just watch. Trying to cut off your nose to spite your face will not have the desired results you may be seeking. Still, there is NO white horse riding in to save the State. 

So no offense to developing nations but this is how revolutions occur. The "powers that be" kill off the infrastructure after robbing a nation blind. They depose an (in)adequate leader for an even more corrupt and inept one. All hell breaks loose and things collapse. Then people get mad enough to bring out the pitchforks and kick some *ss. What exactly will the rich people do when they have no $2/hr workers cuz they chased everybody away? I have NO idea what these lawmakers are doing, but they are seriously gonna get it. It's time for some heads to roll  - that's all. Arnie won't get elected for dog-catcher after this but he certainly deserves to be in the dog house for a long long time.

I just remembered to add the contact info to this post so it's not simply one long (but justified) rant-o-thon. Phone calls, faxes and emails are so much more effective. Lots and lots of BAD PRESS!! California you CAN save yourself from tyranny and incompetence if you want to.

You're So Lame Award of Shame

It's the end of the week so how could I forget to pass out the dunce cap?! It's a toss up between Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly but honestly that could be any week. I'd lean towards Rush but his vitriol has become rather predictable as of late. So I guess O'Reilly wins by a nose. Aside from trying to cash in on all things Obama with his book about electing the current President, he's now on a tear with rapper Enimem over his latest music video. Is it because Marshal has used his music videos to display his pathological mistrust and objectification of women and gays? Oh no, nothing that evolved. Not from a man who has engaged in oppressive tactics and sexually harrassed a female co-worker - and still has his job might I add. No O'Liely is mad because Queen of the Tundra Sarah Palin has been satirized in it. Can we bring out the hook now? I'm not showing the video because I cannot support either men's careers. They both need to be ignored and unsupported so they go away permanently. 

What Did You Think About The PBO Press Conference?

I thought President Obama conducted himself well and answered each increasingly lame and non-important question with more patience than I would've had. First CBS' Chip Reid started with the nonsense. Then CNN's Ed Henry tried to move an elephant with his obnoxiousness. He may clap his paws with glee over some added attention but he gets no reward for dragging the First Daughters into his stupid gotcha moment. CNN is trying to take over for Fox as most partisan and inflammatory network. It's no coincidence they hire some idiot that used to work at Fox in their quest for bigger ratings. Big FAIL!

So between browsing a few political blogs and Twitter someone mentioned that he only called on a small number of female reporters. When one of them wanted to ask him about race (why?) and how he was faring these some 60 odd days, how was he supposed to respond? We all know Obama DOES NOT LIKE TALKING ABOUT RACE for one thing and two - the question served NO PURPOSE WHATSOEVER. As he responded, the people may have noticed the historical context but the average citizen is concerned about the economy. 

It seems it's certain right-wing leaning media personalities that are still carping on race and the other pundits are looking for gotcha moments. Anything but actually trying to help support the President's agendas. Even as I question his hiring practices, the loyalties of those that are serving and honestly whether the evil empire infrastructure will be dismantled I do want all the little people to experience some freedom for a change. I can't say the same for those in the media who seem hell-bent on planting seeds of dissent and spreading drama in their wake.

It's time for some new blood and I am tired of all the aging white mostly male faces that not only make up the WH Press Corp but corporate media period. Alas we Blacks let that ship sail and this is what we're left with. No control, marginal representation and a lot of haterade. Thank the stars for us bloggers but that too will be corporatized in a few years. I hope we're taking steps to ensure our participation remains intact. 

Hard To Believe People Still Think Like This

Via the UK Guardian:

Iris Robinson, the Democratic Unionist MP who referred to homosexuality as an abomination, will not be prosecuted after official complaints were made to the police over her remarks.

The Public Prosecution Service (PPS) in Northern Ireland confirmed today it was not proceeding with an investigation into the MP's comments.

Robinson, who is married to Northern Ireland's first minister, Peter Robinson, also said gay people could be "cured" of their homosexuality by psychotherapy.

Oh really? Haven't we already put that whole idea to rest in the 1970's when psychiatric associations declassified it as an illness? I mean labeling it a sickness allowed for all sorts of legal discrimination. It wasn't used in the way addiction is labeled a disease mind you. Though she won't face any legal ramifications, hopefully she will face public scorn that will give her pause. 

As unpleasant as her statements may be I think it's great when people share their inner most thoughts uncensored. We need to know what people really think instead of hiding behind this fake political correctness crap. We need to know who our enemies are and it's much easier to rally against or monitor them when they make themselves known so clearly. Just some food for thought.
