RU Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

Finally some good news! The very talented budding journalist Damon Weaver has not only had his skills noticed, but the 10 year old has landed a full college scholarship as well. Isn't it nice to see the pursuit of excellence and what happens when a child is encouraged and allowed to soar? He is so darn cute!

On a serious note though: Weaver stands out as more of an exception when he should be more of the norm. This is of course in stark contrast to another bright light that was destroyed when Carl Joseph Walker Hoover was driven past his point of no return. We have an example of two young Black males. One thrives while the other one dies. Adults really need to stop and evaluate their values, priorities and review what messages some of us are sending to children.

Here is Weaver with a request to the President to grant him an interview:

It's nice to see that not all our children are afraid to appear smart. The days of the negativism attached to 'nerd', 'geek' etc need to end. Those nerds and geeks always end up being your boss.

No child should be afraid to appear smart. There's something horribly wrong when acting dumb is used as a coping skill.
