Sneak Peek: Dhani Tackles the Globe - Spain

If you have cable and are looking for something fun to watch then retired NFL star Dhani Jones' show on the Travel Channel might float your boat. He's kinda easy on the eyes and we all know our tangled history with ahem..traveling to foreign lands. Now I've watched two episodes and he takes a very hands-on approach with a lot of physicality by playing sports native to the areas he's in. It's not the usual foodie/luxury hotel show nor is it entirely culture-based like Globetrekker.

Personally I'd like to see more shows developed featuring women of color as these networks (HGTV, Scripps, et al) focus on presenting the refined side of life (gastronomy, decorating, travel) almost exclusively through the eyes of whites, predominantly male. I know that we have a long history of style...and substance. It should be recognized for providing much of the inspiration that people utilize. Still, this is a nice start as long as we are demanding that it leads to more equal representation.

  1. I dig the show. It's dope to see how he uses his athletic prowess to adapt to other sports.

I do the same with martial arts. I have been known to dabble and spar with anyone at the drop of a dime. it shows a universality amongst the practitioners. truly a unique show

  2. Yeah it's interesting! I really like watching the physicality Dhani undertakes because as I said, no other travel show is doing this.
